郭靓太煮私房菜 :Udon With Dashi

Easy as 1,2,3 ..this make 2 bowls of udon dashi

Dashi is japanese stock which becomes the base of many Japanese dishes and its also the classic base for udon soup!

Ingredients:
~ a handful of bonito flakes
~ 2 stripes of Konbu (optional)
~ 2 pack of udon
~ 1 carrot cut into slices
~ 4 1/2 cup of water
~ 2 eggs

Seasoning:
~ 2 tablespoon of soy sauce
~ 1 tablespoon of mirin
~ 2 teaspoon of sugar
~ pinch of salt to taste

 luv this bonito flakes...yummy!

Steps 1: Bring the water to boil. Once it boils, turn the head down to maintain a gentle simmer. Put in the bonito flakes and the carrot slices ....let it cook for about 30 minutes.

Steps 2: Boil another pot of water and cook the udon. As follow the packaging instructions.
When they're done, rinse it under cold water to stop the cooking.

Steps 3: Prepare the seasoning and add it to the dashi soup when its ready.

Steps 4: Ready to serve..put the cooked noodle in a clean bowl and strain the stock to the noodle and discard the solids.
i added a small piece of grilled chicken and a half-boiled egg to add more yums~!

Simple and Easy meal prepared in 30 minutes.

used up my 2 VIP voucher to get it
snow crab clamp + snow crab meat sushi

fresh and sweet

went for few rounds then only able to get this tempura prawn....
i think mine taste better wakakaka

teppanyaki sirloin beef
so stingy and its just the slices
last time it was the beef cube cook in medium well
now no longer see it there

seafood soup and the squid

keep going for the same sashimi and sushi
as there are not much choice of japanese food

eat few more fresh oyster to worth back the money i paid

tiramisu and New Zealand natural

hmmm...this is not the best tiramisu but still better than mine...haha
ok i will try harder and make it perfect next round!

rum and raisin flavour ice-cream

japanese jelly

chocolate fudge, bluebeery cheese cake, white chocolate cake

*****

About this buffet at jogoya..i think its not really suitable for me...because our aim is to have more variety of japanese food.

The food at jogoya are too much fusion.....
30% of japanese food
30% chinese food (dim sum, sweet sour chicken, fried vege, steam fish)
30% western food (spaghetti, cheese baked)
10% korean food (kim chi)
No udon!
No unagi!
No grill salmon!
No japanese grill squid!
No idako!
No ...a lot of No! Its just kinda disappointing!

Yet the sushi variety is too normal where we can easily get at the Jusco market ....And then i think the food quality has dropped compare to my visit 2 years ago. The VIP food selection is no longer available as luxury as before.

Hmm....for japanese buffet i think i still prefer to visit Munakata or saisaki at Menara UOA. Munakata served hot fresh dish...and saisaki got lots more variety on sushi and japanese food.

Lesson Learnt!

Lunch @ Ishin ~ Oishii de ne~!

Arghh...recently me n hubby are catching up a HK drama which its was all about sushi....(鱼跃在花见)

the drama is really framed us up with all the tempting sushi....every night watching the drama just make us so hungry and all the saliva dripping wet my shirt so seriously~! (* that's why im so actively making desserts/supper these few days....it does help to keep my stomach quiet...but it doesn't stop us craving for more japanese food!!!!!)

Better taking action than thinking....finally today we went for japanese lunch~!

Ishin @ Old Klang Road

its a bungalow along old klang road
direction from MV to kuchai lama
you may spotted an big tokong before this restaurant
Ishin is just at junction right after the tokong

very "in" japanese restaurant
iPad Menu

giant "sihum"
it was so bloody when the chef open it and removing the shell
* too violence with all the blood...no pics uploaded

chef of the day at sashimi/sushi bar

a few table on the ground floor

and it was crowded during lunch time

also sushi bar seat
its very entertaining sitting here...can see what's the chef is preparing

potato salad @ Rm12

Shake Teriyaki set @ Rm19

my teppanyaki set @ Rm19

teppanyaki set with a piece of grilled salmon, prawn and teriyaki chicken

love this sauces so much
both of it taste so fresh special

beef teppanyaki set @ RM22

the teppanyaki beef is too tough....too overcooked
and its just not nice to chew
Mr. Lee comment to the manager abt the beef after he took 2 pieces
i took 1 piece and hubby took 1 piece

and then he got the whole plate of beef replaced~!
hehe

finally we see the pinkish on the beef ~ medium well
and now its chew-able!

a cool nice green tea @ Rm3

see their satisfaction look

Total damage for this japanese lunch is just RM113.30 for 4 person. The price is reasonable for their set lunch especially my teppanyaki set which comes with variety of meat. All the set is come with rice, appetizer, miso soup and dessert.

Well...im satisfied with this meal..the taste is good and the environment good too...services is excellent (as they willing to change the overcooked beef completely new even-though its quite crowded during lunch time)

Just 1 thing to complaint about.....is their chopstick...its too crude and too harsh to hold...hope they take note about it.
