Konnichiwa ~~ Munakata

The day before was my beloved birthday. So i bring him to japanese buffet where we had been long for.

Browsing thru the net everybody was either recommending Shogun, Saisaki, Tenji or Jogoya. We have been to these places so many times....so shall we go for a place we never been to?

Sure YES~! Finally i found a restaurant where both of us never been to. The restaurant named Munakata.

Munakata was located at Life Centre, Jalan Sultan Ismail. I never noticed this place although i've been working nearby earlier. The restaurant may look a bit run down at first sight but anyhow environment does not equal to food quality.

The setup of the restaurant is very simple and nice. The atmosphere was good too as all waitresses were dressed in kimono gives strong japanese feel.

Munakata served A La Carte food and also buffet. Since we would like to spam on sashimi and unagi, therefore we go for the buffet. The buffet style here is abit different. We dun need to walk to any serving bar to get the food, instead just order from the menu. Its called A La Carte Buffet.

There are 40 types of food on the menu such as egg dishes, bean-curd dishes, vegetable dishes, seafood dishes, deep fried dishes, chicken dishes, beef dishes, sushi, sashimi, noodle dishes, rice dishes, salads & dessert.

After glance thru the menu we then just write down the food's code and quantity desired on the small piece of paper and hand it over to the waitress. No need to queue or either fight for the food, we just sit and chit-chat. It's very relaxing. Although we will have to wait for food, but knowing that the food is freshly prepared, we are more excited on that~!

Happy Birthday My Dear! Just tick what you like to eat ya~!

Nigiri Sushi (Salmon)
Freshly hand-made by japanese Chef at the Sushi Bar.
It taste so much better than the normal.

Thick Cut Fresh Salmon Sashimi
Chilling Sashimi Melt in you mouth!
Per serving 3 pieces

Ankake Age Dofu
Deep fried bean-curd with thick starchy sauce

My Favourite
Unagi Kabayaki
Grilled eel coated with sweet soya sauce

The unagi was served hot..i've never taste the unagi so nice like this! ICHIBAN!

From left to right
Tempura Moraiwase: Assorted seafood & vegetables in batter
Soft Shell Crab Tempura
Kaki Furai: Deep fried oyster

Gyu Saikoro Steak
Beef Steak cooked in Japanese Style
This dish really rocks my night`! The beef cooked in medium-well was so tender and juicy. Eating together with the fried garlic brings up the aroma of the dish! Excellent!

Enoki No Butter Yaki
Pan-fry fresh straw mushroom with Butter

Gyuniku Shoga Yaki
Sliced Beef Fried with Ginger sauce
The cooking way is kinda new to me, i've never tried beef with ginger sauce before. This is another must try food in the list!

Tori Tsukune Yaki
Skewered chicken meat ball coated with savoury sauce
Satay chicken drumstick meat..yummy!

Sake Teriyaki
Grilled salmon coated with sweet soya sauce

Our favourite order of the day
Salmon Sashimi

yum yum...

Garlic Fried Rice
It may looks like the normal fried rice but i strongly recommend this as another must try dish from the list. Each rice was finely coated with the egg, and the fragrant rice was so nicely cheer up by the garlic. wow..u cant resist the aroma and definitely would like to top up more after u tried it!

Another round of the Beef Steak

Other than these, we also tried Umaki tamago - Grilled eel wrapped in cooked egg; Eringi Butter Yaki - Pan-fry king oyster mushroom with butter; Shishamo - Grilled smelt fish; Hotate Butter Yaki - Grilled scallops with butter.

The food portions might looks small, but their intention is to let you try more variety of food from the list. But since we like so much of sashimi and unagi, we just keep on repeating the order. A la carte buffet has no limit on no of order.

Comparing to the other buffet, the food here was cooked in very genuine japanese way. As i noticed that all the chef was from japan and yet a lot of japanese dine in the restaurant too.

We enjoy so much on the food, at the end of night, both our waist grow 2 inches.

Food : **** (We'll be back to try on the rest from the menu)
Environment : **** (Less crowded as compare to the other buffet.)
Services : **** (Very fast service and waitresses are well-mannered)
Price : RM77NETT per person
