The night is still young after i had prepare the tom yam mee hoon as dinner (Here..). Hubby was so excited to have the chocolate cake as dessert for the day~!
Ya sure honey~! Luckily I just bought the cake mix earlier the day..and ngam ngam i got 3 eggs left in the fridge...so let's start~!
Ingredients:
~ 1 box of cake mix
~ 3 eggs
~ 1 1/4 cup of water
~ 1/2 cup of oil
Topping/Decorations:
~ Roasted Almond Nuts
~ Nutella Hazelnut - Cocoa Spread
~ Cocoa Powder
Using cake mix is such a great options! It's saved my time to measure and mix the chocolate powder, flour, baking powder, sugar and bla bla bla.....and i dun have to buy and keep so many extra thing in my kitchen just to bake a cake.
Simply grab 1 pack of cake mix then we are 50% ready to go!
there were instruction behind the box
but i got my own way to do it as well. Just an options~!
Steps 1: Beat 3 eggs into the mix bowl
Steps 2: Add in 1 1/4 cup of water
Steps 3: Add in 1/2 cup of oil (im using the olive oil)
then start blending the 3 ingredients until fluffy
Steps 4: Now preheat the oven to 180'C and then slowly add in the cake mix to the eggs mixture. May split it to 3 times to add in the cake mix. But remember to beat it in high speed.
Sorry~! Was too busy with the mixer and i forgot to snap the pic ^.^
Steps 5: After add in all the cake mix and beat the mixture evenly. Then stop using the mixer and now start to beat it by hand for 2 minutes. This is to allow more air into the mixture.
Steps 6: Spray the baking pan with the oil. Then just pour in the mixture after 2 minutes hand beat.
Steps 7: Send the cake mixture to the oven. And start baking for 30 minutes.
You may keep checking on the cake by inserting the toothpick to the center of the cake.
If the toothpick comes out clean which means it is done~!
Steps 8: When the cake is done, take it out from the oven and let it cool down before we start decorating it.
Hubby ~ the assistant kitchen helper
set the wrong temperature of the oven and my cake was growing fast
and then it exploded in the oven "pop"
that's make my cake now looks like the volcano
well...there is still a way to make it nice. I just use my knife to cut off the "volcanic" part and the cake will look flat again.
Steps 9: Decorating the cake.
save time save energy, no need to beat any egg white to make the cream.
i just bought this nutella spread and wiped it to my cake surface.
it's confirmed definitely delicious!
yum...
then sprinkle the cocoa powder on top of the nutella cream
to balance the taste of it...
not too sweet with just the nutella cream and not too bitter with only the cocoa powder
bought this roasted almond before cny
and there are some leftover and now can used to add crunch to the cake
chopped the almond finely
and then sprinkle on top of the nutella cream and the cocoa powder
then its done!
this is my special addition to the cake
a touch of whipped cream and a almond on top of it
Do you like it~?
^.^
